FAQmanagers' answers to frequent questions

Questions and answers

Briefly about how we work, how long it takes and what can be disputed. Can't find your question — write to a manager, we reply during business hours.

Getting started

How much does a report review cost?

Nothing. You send your report, and within 24 hours during business hours a manager tells you which entries can be disputed and what we suggest doing next. The review comes with no obligation.

How do I send my report?

Get your three-bureau report in SmartCredit, IdentityIQ or MyScoreIQ (trial access is about $1) and send the PDF report to a manager: via WhatsApp, Telegram or e-mail. After the review the manager will tell you what can be disputed and give approximate timelines.

Do you only work in Los Angeles?

No. Our main office is in Los Angeles, but we have clients in every state: disputes with the bureaus are handled by mail, and the contract and reports are completed online. Office visits are by appointment through a manager only.

What languages do you speak?

We have a team of managers: each speaks Russian, English and also Ukrainian or Armenian, with more languages coming soon. Choose a language in the site header and the phone number switches to a manager who speaks it.

Timing and results

How long does credit repair take?

The bureau's first response arrives in 30–45 days: that is how long the law gives the bureau to verify each dispute. A full case usually takes 1 to 6 months; unnecessary inquiries are removed in about 2 weeks on average. Timeframes are averages from our experience and every case is different. Details in the article "Why credit history can't be repaired in a week".

Do you guarantee a result or a specific score?

No, and no one legally can: the result depends on the contents of the report and the bureaus' responses. The timelines we give are approximate and based on our clients' experience; once a month your client manager reports what has changed.

What can be disputed?

Any negative entry in the report. Most often these are:

  • collections and debts handed over to collectors;
  • charge-offs — debts written off by the bank;
  • late payments of 30, 60, 90 or more days;
  • hard inquiries — unnecessary creditor inquiries;
  • repossession, eviction and court records;
  • accounts that aren't yours and duplicates, errors in your name, address and SSN.

Every case is individual. Everything starts with a free report review: based on it we tell you which entries to dispute and in what order. The bureau must verify every disputed entry with the source, and everything that is not verified is removed.

Can I dispute entries myself?

Yes, it is your right and it is free: the bureau must accept a dispute from you directly. If you want to understand the system and handle disputes yourself, there is Excalibur Credit University (coming soon): video lessons, letter templates, a review of your report and manager support. And if you have no time, we take on the analysis, letters, correspondence with the three bureaus and data furnishers, and repeat disputes.

Contract and payment

How does payment work?

No hidden fees. Before any paid work begins, we sign a written contract listing the services, timeline and price, and you pay only for the specific services in the contract.

Can I cancel after signing the contract?

Yes, within three business days of signing — without giving a reason and without penalties. A cancellation form is attached to every contract.

What does the price depend on?

On the number of entries and bureaus we need to work with, and on whether you need a credit boost or preparation for financing. The exact amount is fixed in the contract before work starts. Terms are on the page "Terms of Use and Offer".

Services

What is a credit boost?

We add you to a credit card with a long age and a high limit, and its history shows in your report after the next reporting cycle; the card stays for two cycles. This is not a loan and no money is issued. Lines with limits up to $60,000 and age up to 33 years, from $250 — on the page "Credit boost".

What are hard inquiries and can they be removed?

These are records of creditors requesting your report. Inquiries without your written consent are disputed under FCRA § 604; the rest stop affecting your score after 12 months. Details in the article "What are hard inquiries".

What does preparation for a mortgage, auto loan or funding include?

A review of utilization and account age, a plan for limits and authorized users, an application order that doesn't multiply inquiries, and a report check before applying. The goal is for the bank to see a reliable borrower.

How do you protect against identity theft?

We set up monitoring with alerts, help you place a fraud alert and a credit freeze at the bureaus, arrange identity theft insurance through a partner service and explain how to protect yourself going forward.

What is the two-hour personal consultation?

The free review takes 15–20 minutes: a manager shows the negative items in the report and says whether a boost makes sense. The personal consultation is two hours one-on-one with one of the company's owners, who has worked with credit reports for many years and knows the system from A to Z: a full report review, answers to any questions about credit history, cards, mortgages, auto loans and financing, and an action plan. Cost: $500.

Which bureaus and agencies do you check?

Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, as well as ChexSystems, LexisNexis, Innovis and Experian RentBureau — if the problem with a bank account, rental or insurance is located there.
